MY STORY
Born and raised in East London, my journey with dance began at the age of 11 first as a form of expression, then as a passion that shaped my life.
I trained across youth clubs, after-school programmes, and performing arts institutions, immersing myself in movement and performance. By 14, I was assisting workshops, and by 16, I was not only leading and performing my own work but also delivering workshops and travelling internationally to train in diverse dance styles.
For my higher education, I attended The BRIT School, where I earned a diploma in Performing Arts. Alongside my studies, I choreographed for local talent shows, auditioned for professional work, and competed in dance battles, honing both my performance skills and my ability to connect with dancers from all backgrounds. After graduating, I was headhunted by Lynk Reach, a charity focused on youth outreach, literacy, and extracurricular engagement. Through this work, I gained invaluable insight into how dance could inspire and uplift communities.
During this time, I trained with the East London crew Graffiti and competed with a group of friends in Reloaded, rehearsing in back gardens and pushing our creativity at competitions like the UK Street Dance Championships. This grassroots energy eventually led me to become a member of the Olivier Award-winning company, Boy Blue Entertainment. Alongside this, I co-founded and became Artistic Director of The Kreative Culture Klub (KCK), an organisation that provided young people with training and performance opportunities, including our annual event Y.G.A.B (Young Gifted and Black) which celebrated the achievements of African and Caribbean communities.
As my career grew, so did my love for storytelling. Travelling internationally to teach and perform, I developed a passion for videography, creating mini-documentaries exploring human connection through movement and poetry. Reloaded also expanded, securing funding to stage our first headline show, The Breakthrough, at the iconic Hackney Empire. Our work gained national recognition, featuring in Comic Relief campaigns and National Lottery initiatives that highlighted the transformative power of the arts.
In 2003, we co-launched Unity, a youth company for emerging dancers ready to take the next step. From local showcases to world stages, we built a name for ourselves, winning UK and world titles with IDO and SDI, performing at festivals like Breakin’ Convention, and working with brands like Nike. Despite these milestones, my commitment remained rooted in community—creating pathways for young dancers to access the same opportunities that shaped my own journey.
Eventually, I stepped into a new chapter, establishing my own projects and collaborating with organisations across London, including Keep It Moving, Future Elements, Studio 3 Arts, Move It, Blueprint, and Hackney Empire. Leading masterclasses nationwide, I discovered that teaching wasn’t just something I did—it was a passion in itself. Dance became my way of bringing joy, empowerment, and self-expression to others.
Today, I continue to freelance, teach, and mentor, working across schools, colleges, and institutions to deliver not just movement training, but also education in the culture and history that underpin it. For me, dance is more than steps—it’s a language, a community, and a shared passion that has the power to change lives.
